Once again back in the Agnus’ clutches, Charlie fears that her days with magic are numbered. That is, until she stumbles upon a secret group of rebels with an extra seat at the table reserved for the child of Life – a child destined to aid the rebels and set their magic free.

Drawn to their handsome leader, Charlie decides to act the part and bands together with the rebels to overthrow the Agnus. But to do so, she must first find a way to connect with her own magic, which might just mean embracing who she truly is.

With freedom, belonging and identity at stake, Charlie distractedly navigates the Agnus’ oppressive regime, first love and her new found family’s expectations; realising too late that there are even darker forces at play and a price someone must pay – with Death as the cashier.

Complete with a magical school, lore rooted in real-world mythology, a touch of romance, and characters you don't know whether to trust, Spindle of Life is a cinematic, page-turning dark fantasy debut that comes out swinging. If you're a mature reader chasing the nostalgic high of childhood classics such as Percy Jackson, Narnia, and the like, then this is the perfect read for you!

There’s an ancient war between the Fates, and a girl whose magic could end it all. But there’s also another girl – destined to die for love.

Sophie Lou is to marry the youngest prince of Caladria, the one whose kiss is rumoured to kill. King Pandemonium demands it.

But Sophie has little interest in being commanded by kings or having any relational ties in the first place. Luckily, neither does the prince.

Reluctantly, the two band together with Sophie's sister Charlie and friends to find the Scissors of Death - the key to stopping Atropos, their engagement, and a foreboding prophecy from coming true. Yet the more time Sophie spends with the prince, the more she feels a pull toward him—one that, if acted upon, will surely kill her.

Meanwhile, Charlie's newfound powers are causing a strain on her own relationship, making her see the one who got away in a whole new light.

Navigating the murky waters of hurt and betrayal, mysterious deaths and visions, the daughters of Life must face their fears and decide for themselves whether some things are worth holding on to or if it's time to cut the thread.

But Death always stays two steps ahead…

A slow burn romantasy novel riddled with unexpected twists, Scissors of Death ups the stakes from Spindle of Life, keeping you glued to the pages from beginning to end.

Fate must run its course.

A mother lived again. A sister died for love. Death followed the son, and a twist of fortune they had, when all united as one.

But for Caden, that twist cost everything that mattered and left him alone in Atropos’ clutches. With nothing for comfort but his own seething guilt and anger, Caden is rapidly descending into darkness.

Yet his chilled heart still beats with a flicker of hope that he will see his fated love again, be it in the land of the living or dead.
So when opportunity presents itself, he escapes with the remainder of their group and sets out to brave the Underworld itself, determined to be reunited with Sophie.

But will love find a way? Or will darkness be all that remains when Caden and his crew learn that Maddison might have read the prophecy wrong, that Sophie’s sacrifice might have been for nought, and that the end of Atropos’ reign might very well bring on the Apocalypse?

The fated heirs' thrilling adventures come to an end in this gripping Spindle of Life finale featuring sea voyages, battles between good and evil, a trip to the Underworld, and star-crossed lovers caught in it all.

Chase Louise Qvam

Spinning romance, myth and lore, into new fantasy worlds

Drawn to everything British and lore infused stories that explore the morally grey, Chase moved across the pond at a young age to write the story in her heart.

Since then, the mixed-race Norwegian author has identified as an English rose and defies the barriers of her first language and dyslexia to write in her preferred language on the daily.

While pieces of it have also been built and drafted all over the world, Chase is now putting the finishing touches on her first trilogy back home in Norway, living with a very patient boyfriend and furbaby.
